ac
Just put ac in my 71 Camaro.
under dash evaporator $89
condenser $60
hose kit with dryer $90
sanden compressor $120
You can get a behind dash evap. for about $100 and run hoses to your vents. Alan grove has the brackets for ls engines. I read that some ls engine compressors run constantly, so I didn't know how this works. In my vega ls1 I used the sanden compressor.

I can send pics tonight with measurements for the Rear Escalade unit. I bought one when my Vintage air unit proved to be useless!!
You might want to look at a late 90s like 98 or 99 tahoe/escalade/suburban ac unit, it is more flat and long than the 03-07ish rear evap unit. But like it was said before this unit in the back of my EXT escalade would freeze you out even on the hottest day.
I only paid like 70 for the entire thing too.

If you do end up buying from a company VIntage air is one of the nicer units ive seen. Ive installed a few vintage air vs. classic auto air and im not a fan of classic. Just overall build quality, fittament and whatnot is much nicer with vintage, either way its all pricey. I didnt even think bout rear a/c, thats a great idea. Ive for a Fiat X1/9 im restoring for mom thats gonna get a/c, mid engine sports car, and i need a compact a/c unit, ill have to start lokin at those in teh junk yards

Anyone else have any success using the GM SUV rear unit? I have to measure out the space under my 81 Z28's dash, likely am going with a 88-98 Suburban unit as they are plentiful in the local yards.

Any insight into how a rear Tahoe A/C unit would interact with the defrost path in the Nova? Would this be an all the time thing, or does the rear unit have a defrost-specific output?

I ended up with a factory Nova A/C from a junk yard to replace my vintage. I was originally thinking about a Jeep Cherokee setup. they tuck up pretty tight under the dash. Another alternative is to get a setup off of ebay. If you have ever been in a older Chevy with factory A/C you know they are hard to beat. You can easily make a hybrid system with them using an orifice tube.

I pieced together A/C for my 1935 Ford. I used a Hot Rod Air under-dash unit I found on Ebay for $50. Since my LS1 already had a GM compressor I decided to use it although a bunch of people said it wouldn't work...it works great. I made up my own lines from fittings from a catalog, used bulk hose in several sizes. I have the tools to swedge the fittings onto the hose so I could make them exactly like I wanted.

GM Minivan AC
Has anyone considered the rear AC units used in GM minivans? I have on in my Silhouette that works well. It might be smaller than the full size SUV unit.
