...and if you're willing to push the envelope a bit, the C5 Batwing oil pan may fit. I've got one in my car. No clearance issues whatsoever.

Some more cleaning, scrubbing, sanding, paint / undercoating. Still have the passenger side front of the floor to cut out and repair. Have to do that before I put the transmission in. Speaking of the transmission, the shifter was missing the pivot pin and plate which was why it was so sloppy. I searched the Internet high and low but no luck so I figured I'd make something work myself. The threaded rod was just for mock up. I'll get to the hardware store to get a hardened bolt.

Transmission is ready to rock and roll. The original shifter polished up nicely.

Hmmm, maybe do a turbo 4.8. Have it bored .020 or .030 over to make it a 4.9. Use an aluminum 5.3 block like me and take some weight off the nose. If built right with a turbo it should make 450hp. Personally I'd go with a beefed up 200-4R. I hate the 700, or rather the 4l60e. That 3.06 1st gear stinks.

Im going back and fourth between a N/A 6.0 or a boosted 4.8. I found a complete running 4.8 with all accessories and wiring for $400 with 120k on it. I plan on running a Th350 behind whatever engine I choose.

The 301 guys will have a stroke when they see a Daytona getting swapped

That is part of the fun. Take it a step further; you should see the amazement on the faces of people who track obviously more expensive/advanced/highly regarded cars when an old mullet mobile zips by them on the track. Not too many haters out there, thankfully, but a lot of amazement.

Try it. It's addicting.

If it was me I'd make it a "turbo 4.9" ls engine. Seriously consider going with an overdrive automatic. The 200-4R 1st gears 2.74 is perfect compared to the th350 2.52 1st gear. And the .67 overdrive is nice.

I can see it now: what the Turbo 4.9 really should have been

Took 2 of the wheels to get refinished at Keystone. Turned out just the way I hoped they would.

Once again it's been a while. I'm getting closer. The exhaust system buttoned up. Had to use f body manifolds to clear the mechanical clutch linkage. Also got the ac bracket setup and finished the serpentine belt layout. Used an ac bracket from a tbi 2.8 V6 s10. I'm waiting on some injector extenders to use an ls2 fuel rail to clear the intake.
One thing about the gmpp harness. It's meant for an lc9 so it should be plug and play for an 09 but it has the alternator connector for like an 04 alternator. I bought the correct connector but which of the wires do I connect to on the new plug as it's only one wire to the alternator?

Working on the seats putting the new seat covers on. I got the passenger seat bottom apart and the springs are rusted. Had to order new ones. Dangit. Oh well, they'll be looking good before long. Definitely needed to be done.

I run 2006 GTO seats in my 80 Z28. They turned out really nice i thought. The back seats took some pretty serious work. The fronts are soooo comfortable. I must say though, i do love the second gen stock seats. They are comfortable.

Well I guess I didn't update things here much but I'm basically finished.

Nice job on the shaker scoop! That'll fool the troops for a while... 'course the "Ram Air 5.3" will keep 'em guessing. For a while....

Do yourself a huge favor and buy the 17" wheels for your car. They look killer compared to the old 15's.

Beautiful. Looks like you got the gaps on the new panels nice and tight, nice work. Love the functional shaker too of course. Nothing wrong with factory 15's.

Yeah, normally I would say go to 17"'s but those 15's look RIGHT! Beside, a totally stock look gives away NO secrets.... If they don't ask, you don't tell! lol

Very nice. Keep those beautiful wheels. 17+'s look weird on classics IMO.
