Chevelle Guys, what cam and stall
I am pulling the iron heads off an Lq4 and putting stock 317s in their place for a Chevelle project. Car has 3.55's stock rear end, and 4l80e with the heavy truck converter. My question is what cam, tc combo does it take to get these heavy cars moving in the high 11's on drag et's?
Should I forgo the 317s and bolt on L92's? (or shave the 317s)
What cam will make it a great street car with power under the curve but still knock down 11's
What stall works best with the4l80e

You asked a question to chevelle owners only, that isn't chevelle specific at all. Your chevelle weighs about as much as a fourth gen F body does, and less than a fifth generation camaro. Don't narrow your criteria so much and you would get note help. The fact you're in a chevelle is almost irrelevant. If anything the factory 4 link is in your favor.
Do some searching and see what it took others to get into the 11s.

You have some more weight than my F body but for the street driving thing....with the 6.0 I used the L92 heads / intake and they seem to work well. Engine winds up fast and lots of power and roasts the street tires on demand. Cam I used was the comp XER273HR-14. 3600 stall on the 4L80. I will get to the track in the next couple weeks to see how it really runs.

11's in that tank are going to take some effort. LS3 heads + LS3 intake, this cam

Coan 3500 stall, quality long tubes, dual 2.5", power bond under drive pulley.
plus 3.73 or maybe 4.10 gears pending rear tire. Going to need good suspension and excellent tires to get it into 11's
Good luck

Keep the 317s if you want boost, or get LS3 heads if you don't. The 317s are going to lower compression.
A 150 shot of nitrous on a very mild 6.0 will get you into the 11s.
F-bodies came in around 3400 lbs with the LS1.
I don't know much about your Chevelle, but most of the small block V8 chevelles (other than Wagons) were no more than 100 lbs or so heavier than this, unless they came with a big block and tons of options.
My uncles 70 Chevelle with an all iron 350 topped the scales at 3500 with a full tank of gas.
With aluminum heads and a little work, you can get a Chevelle down to F-body weight.

Id call texas speed and ask alot of questions , tell them you cars weight and get atleast a cam - valvetrain package from them . get the l92/ls3 heads . As far as stall street cars can live with around 2400 , 2800 will give better times , but street ability suffers

My car's raceweight is #3780 and it ran 11.70s @ 113 in the Florida heat first time to the track with an even milder combo than listed above.
Here was that combo:
Perfomer RPM Intake & Holley 750 Carbureter (A Fast EFI intake would be faster)
PRC Stage 1 CNC ported LS6 heads
222/224 on 112 Comp Cam
1 3/4 x 3" headers
Dual 3" exhaust
TH200-4R transmission with a 2800 Circle D 2B stall
My combo is slightly more aggressive now and has gone 11 ohs @120 in negative D/A. Big girls can fly, you just have to be careful with the combo. Build it for midrange torque.
