LS7 MAF Mounting?

LS7 MAF Mounting?
I'm working on an LS2 swap in a '57 Chevy, and I'm needing some help with the MAF sensor.
There's not much room to work with to build the air intake. I went with a 30 degree elbow from Spectre off of the throttle body with a 4" 60 degree aluminium mandrel bend to the smallest 4" air filter I could find for the tight space. I have 10" of straight tubing before the bend. I trimmed the power steering reservoir bracket and the core support to clear the 4" tubing. I do want to keep the entire assembly 4" if possible. I will mount the intake tube to the core support or filler panel once I have the MAF figured out.
I'm looking to use a GM 15865791 card style MAF sensor. I was wanting to use a separate housing to boot in the MAF right at the filter such as the Ballistic Speed Parts 100 mm MAF housing.

My question is would this setup work as described? Is there any other suggestions or advice? I understand that it will have to be tuned to run properly.
Also, can the MAF be facing down with the plug on the bottom of the tube as to keep it out of sight or would this cause problems?
Thanks for any help or advice. Here are some pics of what I have so far.

I used this bung. I was told by spectre tech not to put it in the 6 or 12 o'clock position.

Yep, that is what I did in using the bung. If I was you I would try and place the bung in the middle of the 10" stretch of straight tubing. I had mine welded in place as the tubing and bung were both aluminum.
There is a direction to the bung so make sure it is in the right direction before welding. At a minimum you want to be at least 3" from the end of the straight tubing. I also cut the slot in the tube before having the bung welded on. Hope this helps.

I have my MAF close to 6 o'clock and when it rains there are some drivability problems. I think the sensor gets wet and causes issues. It's my redneck traction control...LOL
