Default th350 speedo tuning question for vss

Ok, if been reading a ton of info on what speedo gears to run in the trans for 4.11 gears and a 28" tire and im finding all sorts of different options for it. So it doesn't matter what speedo gears are in the trans? Safe to just stop all this research and put the damn trans in and how will they know where/how to program speedo right?

ok I have a th350 in my '94z, did a 6.0 swap and has a th350. To run the stock gauges I bought a electrical conversion swap part from Dakota digital from Summit. It runs of a 8k pulse so the computer was programmed to read a 8k pulse, my question is do I need specific speedo gears in the trans or can you program the stock computer to whatever I need it to be to run the speedo at the right mph?

You don't need specific gears if you're only using them to run an external VSS. When you go totune it just use a GPS to know how fast you're going and program it to read the same.
