G500 Ls motor swap
Hey guy's new here and new to the Ls world. I recently bought a Mercedes G500 wagon 2002 it had a bad motor when i got it there is not much info on v8 swaps with this vehicle and if so its not very well documented. My question is this what is the best Ls motor for this vehicle along with a list of parts i would need. I want it to be auto trans but i also want something that wont over heat (if that's even a problem with any ls motors) with around 400 hp. If you guys could help me it would be much appreciated.

I would imagine most mounting points would be a custom fab job. Dirty Dingo makes some universal mounts that could be fabbed to fit.
How far have you gotten with the current engine's removal? Any photos of what you're working with? How is the steering set up? In front or behind the engine cross member?
Seeing what you're working with will get a conversation started more easily.
As for best engine... take your pick. It really depends on your budget. A junkyard 5.3 can be had for a couple hundred, a complete 6.0 will be several hundred more, a complete aluminum block will probably be about $1k more than that, and with a crate engine the sky is the limit.
