Default factory oil pressure sensor needed?

I'm trying to wrap up my 5.3 swap into my 70 Suburban. Does the ECU need the factory oil pressure sensor? The Suburban guage uses a hardline pickup that comes off of the oil cooler bypass. Can I just delete the stock 5.3 sensor behind the intake?

Depends on the year, but generally you don't need it. Gen3's its never used, but some of the newer stuff with DOD/AFM will use it.

I usually gut the factory sender and tap the aluminum base part for the oil pressure line to connect to, so you can use the factory line.

LS1nova,

Mine throws a code for low oil pressure (2005 LS2). Because I have the factory sender removed and replaced with my oil pressure gauge sender.

I have only driven it around the block a few times. Will this code give me problems? So far it doesn't feel like it's running right

I've never heard of it affecting the way they run. I'm sure you can program the error reporting out in the tune.

Yea just turn the code off. No problems on mine in 2 years/10K miles without an oil press sensor.
