Last year I installed a stock LQ4 into my 79 Malibu. I carbed it, added headers, and she ran good posting repeated 11.80's - 11.90's. Over the winter I swapped cams, going with a custom grind from Ultradyne. Duration in the 230's with 601 lift 108LSA. Used Brian Tooley lifters and springs. I also swapped out my stock 317 heads for a set of stock 799 heads to boost my compression up to about 10.25. Ran it last night and got 11.32 @ 116mph. Set timing at 30 total all the way through the rpm range. Still got some tweaking to do....but very happy with the first outing!
