86 Monte 406 or lq4?
Hello everyone I have an 86 Monte ss that I'm doing an engine swap to. I have many questions and I'm pretty stoked on getting my car running again. I have currently a flat cammed 350 small block that keeps flattening cams. Its ate 2 cams in 10000 miles. One day it just started ticking and I knew it was a lifter/cam, checked oil it was pure black so I changed it and found some antifreeze in my oil filter. This engine has rpm performer heads and rpm performer intake and street avenger carb. I was told my heads may need new guide seals and cud potentially not be worth saving due to the antifreeze and metal from the two cams. However, I also have a 406 2 bolt studed and girdled with ARP bolts and pink rods out of 327. Its got an eagle crank and forged pistons BTW .30 over. I got a 700r4 that's been rebuilt got a stage 2 shift kit. Now I found a lq4 engine in a 2500hd with 100k and I'm trying to decide whether to take the lq4 and sell my 406 by the way the 406 has a brand new bottom end and pistons have 12k. Its a short block I need flywheel and an oil pan to fit over the huge girdle. Don't know if this helps but the car will be mainly daily driven and taken to track so I'm not sure what engine to go with. Thanks guys hope to hear from you soon.

Not sure where the machine work got done but I can find out. Found a buyer to buy the blown 350 for $800. And found a 91 z71 350 with 40k on it and its throttle body for $500 has blown rear end. Would I need any thing separate from the truck to get this running in the Monte? I know for Ls motors you have to put a fuel tank from a New generation Monte and the fuel pump has to put out a certain amount but will I be okay with this because its not an Ls and its throttle body.
