finally made some passes
got it to the track for the first time. I have to work on my 60ft i was launching off of the footbrake at 1900-2000 rpm. 1.587 60ft 10.803 @127mph. with some more work on the tune and some chassis adjustments.(4link) i should be able to tweak it down a few tenths. i did however have pat g spec me a cam to get me in the low low 10's on motor.(project for the winter). then ill be working on nitrous and maybe in my future be making some very high 8 sec passes on a 200 shot

Hello everyone!
Here is what I have to work with so far.
1966 mustang coupe 302 (matted to a 4R70W transmission with a stand alone controller) 9” rear end, front and rear disk brakes, all New stock (suspension front and rear) springs, shocks, A-arms, leaf springs, front and rear sway bars….
The issue I am having is to get to the power that I want to have to the wheels, which would be around 450bhp I would have a $6000 351W (stroked to 408) into it…… I would rather put a 6.0 (LQ9) and 4L80E into it and change out a couple of wear items and a cam and then get to partying!
I am moderately capable of fabrication and can weld but I do not have a TIG welder or plasma-cutter, so I would really like to see more bolt on application suggested if at all possible.
I know that I if put this on the mustang forums I would crucified and stoned to death! So I am hoping to gather a lot of information for those of you that have done swaps before and specifically into a 65-66 mustang.
Here are some things that I have questions on and would like to see if there are any manufactures that might be making parts of me to make this a little more bolt on friendly.
K-Member and Motor mounts – AJE?
Will I have to modify the trans tunnel to fit the 4L80E?
What is the most aggressive cam I can install into a stock LQ9 and still be a daily driver?
Will I have to cut the shock towers?
Will I have to upgrade my fuel lines?
Will I have to install a Bosch 044 inline fuel pump?
Will I need a programmer / Tunner?
Who in Oklahoma can Tune these things?
Will I have to run a chevy instrument cluster or are there parts to have my factory 66 instrument cluster read speed and oil pressure?
So many questions I know, but like I said I cannot ask the ford guys and I am kind of in limbo until I find a home…. It would be nice to jump into this thing, turn the key and go without having to idle for 10 minutes plus making great power and still capable of getting into the 20’s MPH wise are all pluses! Hell if I can get into the 13’s with this configuration I would be pumped!!!!
Thank you in advance and please feel free to PM me
Travis

I have a '66 Mustang coupe six cylinder car, and I have an LM7 engine, and I'm thinking of putting them together. Appreciate all the info you've shared so far.

Updates
I have an LM7 engine, and
I’m running the aje subframe colt 65 kit,
a 6.0 ls is a good setup, there is a lot of work on the install of an ls in a mustang
the aje front is a good start, you will have to cut your towers “notch”.
any can in the 228 duration at 50 would be decent
to fit the 4l80e, you will have to modify the trans tunnel to fit it in there,as well, you will have to make a custom trans crossmember as well
