My S10 ate a 5.3L
So last summer I swapped a 5.3L into a 97 S10. It was a jy motor, with a cam and spring swap. Well, after not a few miles, it ATE a piston
This year I rebuilt a LS1, ported a set of 862 heads for a compression bump and a bit better flow than the stockers, and dropped in the new motor.
My specs are as follow:
LS1 with ported 862 heads
LS1 intake w/ 85mm TB
.595 .595 232/232 (I've used this cam in 3 builds)
4l60E w/2600 stall
4.10 rear
Sanderson shorties and true 2.5 duals

The truck was all burgundy, but I swapped all the white body parts from a 00 Xtreme donor that had some rocker rot! I hope to get it painted in the spring. Thinking of white with burgundy rally stripes. I also want to do a roll pan with the center exit exhaust. Has anyone seen any roll pans with the Corvette or Cherokee style center exits????

How do you like the sanderson shortie headers? Do they fit well? Also how well do you like it with the 4.10 gears?
My S10 is almost the same set up but going with a 5.3 with a ls6 cam.
