I figure I would post what I have done so far. I bought a 2000 Mustang GT, the 4.6 had a rod knock. So I am fixing the stupid 4.6. It is getting a 4.8 and 4l60e. Ok, so I wanted to keep the A/C, but not try to make new hoses, and get pressures correct, and keep it serviceable. so no weird custom one off parts. So after researching on the Ford compressor, I have found I can rotate it. Now I only have to rotate it 22.5 degrees, here is what I came up with.

I used a piece of 1 1/4 x 1/8 inch angle from the local hardware store. Measured and drilled,

Then mounted the compressor.

I added a piece to hold the factory tensioner

The tube holding the front corner is 1/2 steel tubing, flattened and drilled. The washers are temporary, see the next pic.

Yes the belt is touching, I need a little longer belt. It barely touches.
The last thing is to modify the tubes, I am going to get a 5/8 steel compression fitting, cut the tube, rotate it roughly 22.5 degrees and its done.

Oh, and I moved the alternator.

Nice. Might be easier to rotate the compressor tensioner than find a shorter 4 rib belt to drive the AC. Automatic tensioners have a range typically cast into the housing. Outside this range, the belt may slip (not enough tension), wear poorly (too much tension) or become difficult to change.
