Default best fitting 64-67 A body swap parts

what is currently considered the best 64-67 GM A body swap kit or engine mount kit? I see a lot of threads from several years ago but just wondering if there have been better versions designed since then. I see Holley has a nice oil pan. I haven't researched headers yet but i'm guessing there are lots of options out there.

Holley has everything you need that are all designed to work together including the Hooker headers.

We actually haven't tackled the 64-67 cars yet, but I hope to in the future.

Damn, I thought you already had. my bad.

I know the 302-2 pan works like a charm. And the Holley accessory bracket setup fits great in the A body cars. I'm using it on my 64. Flowmaster Scavenger Series Elite Headers 814116 fit great as well, not sure about the Hookers

302-1 Holley pan, hooker engine plates and energy suspension short and wide motor mounts. Doug's headers are the only ones that fit these cars. However, the morons put the o2 bung on the outside of the headers instead of the inside where it belongs. I bought mine uncoated and added bungs on the inside. Check out my build. Most everything is documented. The Holley 302-2 pan offers more clearance but the casting and machining is subpar compared to the 302-1.

Btw...the Flowmaster headers are Doug's headers with a different flange. I had a set in here and prefered the vband clamp over the ball and socket.

Doug's engine plates are ok...but uncoated and have the same location as the hookers. I almost used the dirty dingo mounts but I didn't want the extra height of the mount. You will need to invest in a CV driveshaft.

That's too bad. Large market segment that you are missing out on. That's ok. I have the recipie with a variety of other vendor parts.

I used the 302-2 oil pan on a LS3 swap into a 1968 Chevelle. There was nothing wrong with the casting or machining. The 302-1 will hit the inner tie rods and spacing the motor mounts will cause a bad front u-joint angle and trans to tunnel interference.

We'll get around to it as we're quite aware of the popularity of those vehicle vehicles for use as a swap platform. There's a least 7 or 8 additional vehicle applications I can think of that would be worthwhile to build a complete swap system for and that is one of them.

I have the Holley 302-1 oil pan. Headman 1 3/4 to 1 7/8" stepped headers that fit real well. Dirty Dingo sliders with tall and narrow mounts. I am running a 6L80 so we had to raise the transmission tunnel an inch. This is on a 65 Skylark. Looks like Holley will be coming out with a complete kit.

+2 on the flow master headers they are perfect fitting and don't hang low.
See my thread for the parts I used. Only thing I had to fabricate was the trans mount and that's only because I didn't want to buy one.https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...el-camino.html

I'm using Doug's headers and adapter plates, 5.25" dorman power steering pulley, Autokraft oil pan. Headers needed a ding on 1 tube to clear the steering shaft, 1 bolt had to be ground down on the steering box, oil pan will need to be dropped and notches welded in to retain full steering. I'm most likely going to sell the pan and go with the Holley 302-2 and improved racing baffle. If the engine were set back another 1/2", the header would clear no problem.

Sorry for the long story.

The 302-2 pan I had was really bad. The oil filter mounting surface had machine marks where the mill started and ended the machining process and the oil passages had sharp and incomplete holes drilled. I mocked up without a pan gasket and when I spun the motor over by hand, the connecting rod bolt touched the bottom of the pan. Given that the gasket affords almost 0.1000" of extra clearance, that seems too close for comfort. Besides the 302-1 pan allows use of a full windage tray. If they clean up the machining, allow for stroker or full bondage trays, it would be hard to beat.

My tie rod ends barely contact the 302-1 pan. That is in full lock mode, which the car rarely sees anyway.

Most a-body cars are going to have drive line angle issues unless...... you are either hacking up the floor to get the trans high enough or budgeting for a CV driveshaft.
