Lm7/4l60E into 79 Z28
I am putting a 2002 5.3 out of Silverado into a 1979 Camaro Z28. I have seen a lot of information on it. Just looking for some advice and do's and don'ts's.
1. Do I need to change oil pan?
2. What about driveshaft?
3. Which motor mount adapter kits is recommended?
4. What about shifter?
5. What about speedo?
I am sure as I go along I will have many more questions.
I will try to look for the answers before I ask them though.
All help is appreciated.

1. You will need to change the oil pan. The truck pans hang down too low. Holley has great aftermarket oil pan kits.
2. If you are swapping motor and newer trans together your driveshaft will more then likely need modification.
3. Any 1 " setback plate will put your 5.3 where your existing bellhousing was.
4. You can make your existing work or buy a newer one.
5. Speedo will need to be swapped out to an electronic one or you can use a motor driven box from cable-x or dakota digital to drive your old speedo.

Use of the Hooker 2nd-gen specific engine brackets and transmission crossmember will optimize your U-joint working angles, whereas universal swap plates and an independently designed transmission crossmember will not without considerable work on your part following their installation.
