Help me understand the fox vs sn95 rearend
Ok so I know that the fox rearend is narrower than the sn95 and even more so the new edge 8.8. There arent any other differences that I am aware of other than brakes which are getting replaced anyways. So my question is, is this basicly a cheap way to a narrowed rearend? If ive got to buy an 8.8 anyways to throw in a v6 new edge build wouldnt grabbing a fox rearend be the same as grabbing a new edge and narrowing it?

Fox is 4 lug while SN is 5 lug
SN is .75" wider PER axle
New Edge is 1.5" wider PER axle
Housings are the same between fox and SN. NE housings use metric sized control arm bolts.
Nearly all 5 lug Mustang wheels are backspaced for SN or NE so not much benefit in fox width axles in the newer cars.
Mustang clearance issues normally occur on the inside of the tire not the outside.

I have a built fox rear end in my new edge car
35spl axles, spool, braced, etc
Im able to use a 15x10 with much less backspacing and easily tuck a 28 inch et pro
The wheels also look much better with the additional back spacing
Probably not worth the effort if you didnt have a 5 lug swapped fox rear end already

If part of the "etc" is a 9" bearing end conversion then picking up a Fox axle housing will be no different than any other housing if you are swapping all the parts anyway. The spool won't have c-clips anymore so you will either need the pressed on 9" bearing conversion or c-clip eliminators. If you are going to cut off the ends and replace with 9" end then you might as well narrow to whatever you want since you are getting custom wheels and axles anyway.

Wheels are 15x10 with 5.5 backspacing
Could easily fit a much wider tire
I have c clip eliminators
Factory 8.8 ends, not the big 9 inch
Like said above though
If you're going to buy axles, a spool, and eliminate the c clips you can use any width you want and cut it down
My rear end was already built, bolted it in and ordered wheels that fit
