1993 v6 car to a 2000 LS1 swap wiring?
One of the projects I have is a 1993 V6 Camaro that I got for $400. Just yanked the motor and trans. I have 2000 LS1 and TH400 trans to swap into it. The mechanical side of things The swap is easy. I have all the necessary things, K member and motor mounts, trans cross member, steering rack, ect. Where I am clueless is wiring. This car has the 93 V6 harness in it still. Is anything usable in that wiring? Should I just find a complete harness from a 98+ F-body LS car? Is that the easiest? If so, can the stock 93 gauges be wired to work? like speedo and tach? Are there companies that make LS harnesses for street rods and such that would make this go easier than a stock harness?

I'm sorta in the same boat. I just removed the stock L69/TH2004R from my '86 Monte Carlo SS. I didn't save any wiring except the stuff that has to do with HVAC, lighting and hot side of the ignition. Somewhere I read LS engines only need a 4 wire hookup to the car.
Gauges can be made to work with adapters.

It would be easier to get a company to make a swap harness. I would recommend you get a 99 and up engine harness made up so you can use the newer design computer. The 98 uses a different computer design. You can use a stock LS1 harness and modify it yourself but it involves repinning, extending, and tracing wires. You need to have patience and the ability to read wiring diagrams/pinouts.
I have read somewhere that you possibly need to swap to Lt1 gauges to make all this work.

remove the original harness. Purchase one or make your V8 harness a stand alone. Get it running first off, NOT DRIVING YET! Then, figure out the stuff you need for temp, oil pressure, and if you want to try, a speedo. Or just get a Racepak Dash for $675 and it will plug right into the OBDII port of your engine harness. It will even read and clear engine codes for you.

Yes I agree it wasn't too bad. Not sure if I would want to make harnesses for other people though. Maybe he can convince you to build one. I definitely would not do a stand alone though as the car pretty much has all the circuits to run the LS1.
