Soon I will be getting a e46 m3 but I want my Bmw to have 500hp, which would be an easier and less costly way of going about this? Swapping stock engine with an ls2 engine or just adding a super/turbo charger kit? Any feedback is welcome

Boosting that straight 6 is going to be cheaper, but a boosted LS has way more potential.

If the M3 has a good motor, just slap a turbo on it. That is going to be way less work and will make 500hp without even trying.
