Always a good choice,, but wait til you get the price,, the paint in the can is some of the most expensive out there.. The original true Guardes red pigment comes from burning gold in a furnace. Last I heard Sikkens was the only US source and its special order.

It s been a busy few weeks. I decided to scrap the g50 pedal set up and go full Tilton Pedal box with triple remote reservoir, I think it will suit the Ls swap and make life a little easier. I started work on fixing my dinted doors and got the car in primer.
next job is to finish the doors off, sand the bumpers and fenders and finish fixing my cracked fender.
I get a lot of questions on my transaxle so I might make a video on it next showing everyone how it works and what i got.

Well at least you'll be able to fuel your car from the tears and hate of the porsche crowd, especially as it's an older porsche... none the less modified they'd still be pissy. I'd love to see the reactions on one of their forums. 'How dare you desecrate an air cooled porsche with a pushrod boat anchor rarrr rarr rarr! bwahahahaha!'
I don't know of a more hated LS swap. Probably even more so than the rotary LS swaps.
I had a few of the honda guys stewing a bit though .
But this thing is going to be an absolute beast and lightweight to boot. I love wide body 993s, in fact it was my first introduction to a proper sports car, good mates dad had one (and another older 911 race car), ended up getting a ride in a decently modified 911 turbo in early 00's when they were still the bees knees.
I remember his dad explaining what 'druck' meant in German and to watch that gauge as he mashed the throttle. The turbo lag... damn. Three up and we hit 110mph in a flash... and braked just as fast.
I got into bikes after leaving school but always remembered that experience and will for the rest of my life. Not many people have gone in a 'holy grail of air cooled Porsche' 993 turbo in this country, even these days. Thank you Mr Garty!
edit: ps definitely guards red. same colour as the one I went in and IMO it is a classic 993 colour.

Haha I have got it from all angles and then some more. I brought the car with no motor and box. After seeing the crazy prices ppl wanted for a worn out 2.7 I just couldn't bring myself to drop that sort of money on something low powered an needing work. A turbo motor would run me over 100k if I could even find one. The ls has been done a couple of times so i knew going into it a few of the basics needed and the main part of it actually fitting. I wanted to be able to track it and flog it and have fun with out worry about breaking something thats going to cost me my left kidney and and 3 month wait each time so Ls it was. I have no plans on selling it at the moment so resale is not an issue for me I just love the look and want to have fun so hopefully this combo will do that.

If you feel like it, should try collect some of the best responses, would be quite entertaining to read through. Sounds like you got the perfect car for exactly what you wanted though and I'm glad to hear it and see someone on a similar path with a totally different chassis. I too dig the looks of the 993 over anything newer they made (perhaps CGT/918 excluded).
Had no idea turbo engines were 100k now!? What in the F***! Knew they were significantly appreciating but had no idea that was the case. Aren't they worth not hugely more than that as a whole running car anyway?
Basically I had the same issue with my S2000. Honda wants LS shortblock price for forged rotating assembly, let alone rest of the engine. They can't be bore honed (FRM liners) so have to be sleeved if you screw a bore/out of round etc. A blueprinted spoon engine costs 50-80% of the cost of the car depending on how much you get it for. So with a low KMs car, getting a low kms used engine was impossible. Everyone uses them for kit cars and swaps and they only made 120k of them, with a vast majority being the less sought after 2.2L F20C for the USDM... and they're all hacked out or high kms if you find one. OUt of round etc.
Same reasoning as you, wanted something to beat on and be 'cheap'er to fix. Plus same as you said - a 2.0 with relatively low power or an LS swap.... no brainer.
So I wish you luck my brother in swaps from another mother and manufacturer. May our cars ring true and reliably again with the glorious power and sound of the LSx

Small update. I had a delay on the left fender. the one I found he decided the shipping was too expensive and pull the plug on me after 3 weeks of stuffing around. So I ended up finding a mint NOS fender but as my luck would have it. It was Run over by a forklift and pancaked the nose. Lucky for me I know when I'm outta my depth and I didn't want any filler in the nose of the fenders as they do hold the bumper and take a bit of flex and a crack was the last thing I wanted. lucky for me I know an amazing metal guy who file finished the finder to brand new
Now that was sorted I could move onto fitting the turbo extensions. This what I thought would be an easy job turned into a nightmare. But you can see I got them fitted with the help of the Co. whos a gun with the tig. while we were at it I did a indicator delete.
I finished the last of the rust repairs on the doors and got them in highfill as well
I got my roll cage back from the power coaters and im pretty happy with how it turned out for my first time.
I got my plate welded in and my tilton pedal box installed.
Im still unsure if the wheel centres should stay silver or go gloss black
sanding sanding and more sanding. getting it down to 800
Paint arrived

I started the last test fit and wasnt happy with a small bit so i changed it.
This corner needed more trimming out
the air dam for the radiator is done
shout out to the old man for helping out for the day

By By **** box fiberglass! it was a big hassle and really big cost to change the fenders but i feel it was worth it as ill be keeping more genuine parts on the car
Getting the last of wetsanding done. Paint goes on this weekend
look at that shine
Looks Like my type of christmas presents haha
We have Paint!!!!!!

panels lightly bolted on
Now to start installing the cooling system and V8!!!!!
