Default Standalone harness and gauges?

I'm thinking of going to a stand alone harness when swapping my car.

It's a 97 lt1 camaro can the stock gauges be retained as what I've read the gauges are still mechanical and not digital. Anyone have any input?

I'm putting a lq4 in a 87 c10 . I bought Dakota digital gauge pod. It has a pigtail that plugs into my speartech OBD2 port on my wire harness . it controls all my gauges and gives me a check engine light as well

yea if your original gauges are mechanical, all u need to do is swap your original oil/coolant sensors or fittings over to the ls engine and your golden.
