Default New Gears: Changing PCM settings

I just swapped gears in my setup. I haven't changed anything in the PCM yet. Will it hurt anything to drive the car for a while until I can get to the tuner to reprogram for the new gears?

Thanks,
Brandon

No. Shift points might be off some. Just see how it acts.

OK, thanks. I had no idea, for all I knew it could throw some fuel/air off or something.

Thanks

If your vss is in the transmission as they commonly are, the engine shouldn't be impacted at all. If you're driving a speedo off of an output from the ecu -- that'll need some work to be accurate. How you like it with the new gears?

I'm still in the break in period, so I've been been driving very conservatively. I will say that I expected more of a change. Maybe the change will show up better when I can accelerate more quickly, but really the biggest difference is that it stays at a higher rpm on the highway and it doesn't lug itself to death going down the road. Taking off from a dead stop doesn't seem entirely different. When I would floor it from a stop it was very underwhelming before, so I'm hoping that will change when I can try it after I change the gear oil.

Do you have a stock converter? What gear did you go with?

Think he mentions 3.42 in a post somewhere. Pretty sure the converter is stock. This motor/tranny/rearend combo ought to make this thing run REALLY good....hell, 5500 lb. SUV's damn near run in the 14's.
