5.3 in a 94 Z
I have a chance to buy a 5.3L from a friend. I've been thinking about an LS1 swap for awhile now anyway's, but dont have the cash for a donor motor. Is it worth it or would it be better to just hold off til an LS1 comes my way? What are the differences between the 5.7 and 5.3?, would a Painless Wiring harness work with the 5.3? Will an LS1 intake work with the 5.3? Are the dimensions the same as a 5.7? will LS1 headers work as well? Will my stock 6-speed trans work? please help, thanxs in advance.

I wouldn't recommend either for your swap. If you just read where another guy wanted to swap an LS1 into a '93-'97 F-body it's just not worth the time, trouble and money for the end result. Sorry to deflate your intentions but take it from those that know!
You'd either be better off hopping up the LT1 or selling the car and buying a '98 or newer LS1 car.

I know its a matter of $$$, but if you want to contact ROB at http://stokermotor.com
He can build you a motor LT-1 or LT-4 that will go in a HECK of alot easier than a LS1 or 5.3!!!
He can help you build one from wild to more mild.
My engine from him is a LT-4 383 longblock. with AFR heads and 9.1:1 compression (cause its getting supercharged) the engine is "bullet-proof" all Lunati 4340 forged rotating parts.
I love it. It ran me just over $7,000 but I got all new parts, from oil pan and block up to the heads. You can get something ALOT cheaper. You can get a brand spanking new 383 engine for $5000+ if you dont want to supercharge it or NOS.
Hope this helps. but to recap I agree. DON'T LS1 or 5.3!!!
