Default wiring harness question

I'm about to start buying what I need for an ls1/t56 conversion in a 1980 firebird and i got a couple questions. The engine/tranny combo i'm buying was in a 99 SS Camaro that had a fire in it. The entire combo is in perfect condition except for the fact that some of the wiring is burnt up from the fire, thats bout it. What i'm wondering is it cheaper to buy a factory harness and send it to speartech and have it reworked or just buy their $750 custom harness from them? A reworked one is $450, so i guess its just a question of how much a factory harness costs.

For my factory harness it cost me $255.49 shipped to my door from gmpartsdirect.com. It was a 98 but I would think the prices would be similar for a 99
is the one you have beyond salvage ???

i haven't looked at it in detail very much as i haven't got the engine to my house yet, but it might be salvagable, speartech might be able to repair it for an additional cost
