Default Cruise control question

Has anyone had experience with making the fly by wire cruise setup work in a vehicle originally equiped with mechanical linkage? Thanks

Oh yeah, it works great! Uses any late model GM stalk switch with "on", "set/coast", and "resume/accelerate" functions.

John, have you hooked up the cruise in an LS1 without a C5 TB? If so, how?

Yes! You have to upgrade to the electronic style cruise unit (the rectangle looking box instead of the old round diaphram unit)and then buy a cruise control cable for a non-traction control LS1 Camaro. You can wire it up from the service manual diagrams and it will work great. You have to give it power, ground, brake switch, VSS, and the stalk switch inputs.

Can I use my current cruise stalk?

That would be the first thing to try. Tap into that line and just see if it will support both functions. It works fine to double up when using a GM speedo and cruise together; I don't know if the cable X box is a higher load on the system than a GM electric speedo or not.

There are other ways to do it if that didn't work.

Your current cruise switch will work fine.
