Re: All 1999 parts except the PCM
If you're going to get your PCM modified, why not have the VATS dependency removed entirely?
Actually, I don't think you really need a specific VIN number for anything, except maybe a particular LS1edit license or something.

All 1999 parts except the PCM
I've almost got one of my projects together.
I have pulled most everything from the same donor
car, a 1999 Camaro.
I have the complete wiring harness, BCM, steering
column, ignition key, dash, and the VIN#, etc.
One thing that was not available in the donor car
was the 99 PCM.
I found a local contact who said that he is able
to burn a VIN# onto a pcm.
After 3 weeks of trying to get the local contact
to burn me a pcm with the VIN#, I'm looking for
some alternatives.
Can a 2000 and up pcm be burned with my VIN# info
and work in all of my 99 parts setup?

Jay you should be fine using any 99-02 PCM. You can get away with using any year VIN as long as it matches the transmission and you can delete codes with LS1edit. Or you can have someone reflash your '99 VIN into that PCM, I redid my '99 PCM with a '01 VIN, it was pretty easy to do since I worked at SD when I needed it done.

Re: All 1999 parts except the PCM
I'm setting up a motor test stand, as well as
figuring out what's necessary to run the motor.
That should set me up for future motor/chassis
conversions.
I have access to a supply of 6.0L motors and it
would be beneficial to know which motors are the
no-problem runners, or at least determine the
non-DOA's.
I have a pcm that is known to be a 1999-2000, but
I don't know what tranny it's setup for.
Maybe that really doesn't matter, since there is
no tranny on the motor test stand <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
I'll get my contact to flash in the VIN# I have for
the pcm and use that to run the motor.
Next I'll need an inline fuel pump, some fuel line,
and a bucket <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
