Default 12558899 vs. 12558762 Oil Pans

Can anyone tell me the difference between the two part numbers for pans listed in my title? I need to ge the right one for conversion into my '56.

I see in the FAQ section tha the 12558762 is listed as F-Body pan. I am told I need specifically a 97-2002 Camaro or Trans-AM pan.

Where did you get the 12558899 P/N? I entered it into the search and GMPartsdirect and it came up as invalid. Heres the link to GMPartsdirect http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ . The second number came up as the 98-02 f-body pan, well on GMParts it actually came up as a 98-03 pan but they didn`t even make f-bodies in '03.

FYI: you are looking for a 98-02 pan, in 1997 the f-bodies still had the LT1`s and the oilpan for those will not fit any of the LSx series engines.

That number is stamped on the pan I have in hand.

It sound like the other number is also the pan that I would be looking for for sure. This one looks just like the other one based on pictures I've seen. I have not studied just what specifically F-Body is. I have presumed that went beyond being strictly a Camaro or Trans-AM, which is specifically what I'm told I need one off of.

So, I guess for both numbers, I'm interested in final verification.

An F-body is a chevy camaro, pontiac trans am, or pontiac firebird. Those were the only models with the designation of F-body, and all of the 98-02 LS1 F-Bodies use the same oil pan.
