Finally figured out Alternator wiring!

98 vs 99 Alternator wiring: 98 needs two wires.
Well that did the trick. I have a 12 switched on one pin and 12 switched through 470 ohm resister on the other.
I hooked up the system with a wire dangling out of the pin 3 connector. Fired up the car and measured the voltage on the battery: 10.4V
Took the dangling wire and held it on the + terminal of the battery. The voltage then read 14.5 v and the engine started to labor a bit more on the load of the alternator.
now to get the speedo working....

Correct me if im wrong, but i thought i had read somewhere that there is one pin that you just simply hook straight to ignition source and the internal reg or circuitry can tell it to charge on its own. And the other route is to use the pcm wire to tell it to charge on a different pin.
This is the first ive heard of the light or resistor thing. I havent researched it too much so bear with me lol

Mine recently started giving me trouble overcharging i had a light inline for mine its been fine for years.Tried resistor this week and wont stop overcharging i gave up and went my friends shop and put a one wire regulator in it for 30 bucks now charges 14.5 and less wires too.

Just so you guys know I went through 5 alternators and did the dummy light, the 470 ohm resistor and still burned them up. As soon as I put the other wire on the connector to 12v as well it worked. Just like this guy said.

ALternator Light
So if I wanted to add an Alternator light, I would wire it between the resistor and the 12v ignition on source? correct???

U dont have to. It gets ground from alt side when alt is at a stop. As soon as alt starts spinning it loses grnd and lite goes off. Hence the "warning lite". If it turns on while driving, u have issues
