Tranny offered by rileyridez
Just want to say that Daniel R. is a stand up guy. Evidently, initial purchaser had problem with down payment and I was 2nd in line.
Daniel was most helpful getting the tranny skidded & shipped. I can take advantage of a great corporate freight rate (I.E. $75.77 Memphis, TN to Wilmington, NC), but the skid has to be shipped from a business (or delivered to the nearest terminal). Excellent communication throughout the transaction.
Shipment arrived today, very nicely packed and 6l90e was exactly as described -- '07 Silverado 2500HD tranny having about 300 miles and complete with flexplate,'verter, dipstick, fluid lines and yoke.
This thing's going behind an '08 LS7 (540 miles) in a steel '32 Ford roadster.
Need to call Speartech and see if they'll modify my '07 TBSS harness w/E67 ECM or whether it's less expensive to buy the set-up outright.
Thanks again Daniel for a clean tranny at a affordable price!

A little help please
What OD GM trans is the strongest to put in a 70 Chevelle? I've been thinking of doing a conversion also and want to look into the best bang for the buck OD transmissions. What are the gears in a 4l80,6l80 and 6l90? What else is out there that will support high HP?
Thanks, Chris
Thanks, Chris

6L80 is 469Hp/439lbft input, 664lbft output.
Ratios in both : 4:1, 2.36:1, 1.53:1, 1.15:1, 0.85:1, 0.67:1
4L80 is 440lbft in, 885lbft out. So same input as 6L80, same output as 6L90.
First: 2.48
Second: 1.48
Third: 1
Fourth: 0.75

Thanks for the info, it looks like the 4l80 would work out best for me. OR, using my existing T400 and get a Gear Vendors for it. Any opinions on what is the better idea to go? The price will almost be equal.
Just curious, is the 6l80/90 much bigger physically?

Also TCI has a new 6 speed auto in a case either similar to a 4L80 or 4L65. Not quite sure on that.
Have read good things about Gear Vendors units!
What is a Chevelle tunnel like? Plenty of room or tight?
Cheers.

Have never seen a 4L80 in the flesh, but I do recall seeing a thread on here somewhere maybe of a 6L80 and 4L80 side by side. Though it may be somewhere else on the net too.

The TCI is a Gm 4l80 moded for the extra gears.

The difference is generally the converter housing, and the extension housing on the back. Various lengths and types of output shafts and transaxle/transfer case adaptation is used depending on regular car (G8), Corvette, 2WD or 4WD truck. (etc)
Trust this helps.

We are seriously considering a 6L80 out of a Denali in our 68 Firebird with a Mast controlled L99. I need to talk to Shaun at Mast about their L92/6L80 truck build, because I am concerned about the amount of control that we will have over the trans using their controller. I read your posts above about a billion times and have tons of questions. Did you have an estimate of how far back the tunnel needs to be modded. When installing the new floor we made some mods for posibly running a T-56 using the BRP kit, but I don't know if we have allowed enough room for the monster 6L80- see pics below. Also, Can you confirm what type of LS engine oil pans you're using - H3, F-Body, aftermarket..., and does the G8/VE 6L80 pan actually hang lower than the engine oil pan?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

The 6L90 case is about 1 1/4" longer than the 6L80.
An ATS mount kit was used, and the frame stands were moved 1/2" forward. So a 6L80 case in stock ATS location would have the rear of the case just in side the rear of where the trans x member recesses are (in theory )
It looks like you will have good space with that new tunnel top and the additional room allowed for around the converter housing.
Used an F Body pan sectioned for the steering centre link.
The 6L80 G8 trans pan is level with a G8 oil pan (or near enough), but it is lower than the F Body pan by around 3/4" - 7/8".
Just got these underside shots done last week (after promising them for some time LOL !):
Full length picture:

Regardless of whether you use a MAST ECM or GM ECM for the engine, the trans controller is running the trans. The important thing is that the MAST speaks the right language on the CAN (like the GM controller) so that the trans controller (TCM) can provide inputs to the ECM and vice versa and keep the TCM from going into limp mode, manage torque on shifts, tell the trans what the engine speed is etc. i.e. it thinks it is talking to a TCM aware GM ECM.
Dont know if the M90 does rpm matching/throttle blipping like the Corvettes/G8's for manual down shifting for example, but if they dont, would guess it wont be long before they do.
Trust this helps man.

G8 Pontiac L98 Pan compared to F Body Oil Pan
FYI - Photo shows F Body pan and dimensions in the foreground, G8 Pontiac (VE Commodore) in the background attached to the L98 crate motor (LS2 low end, ~LS3 top end).
F Body pan looks larger due to being closer to camera. The G8 pan is however considerably larger in depth and length, not withstanding the standard block pan rail dimensions.
Cheers.
