Default Help with LS series into a 1985 Nissan 4wd questions

I have acquired a 1985 Nissan 720 4WD pickup with a bad engine. I am looking for advised on an LS swap. Pretty much I have no real issues with the swap itself, but I am looking for advise on what kind of LS build up would be recomended, what combination of parts, what engine management to use, etc. So here is my plans.

I want to do a solid axle swap on the front, and set it and the rear up on coilivers. I want to basically build a streetable rock crawler/ offroad toy. I need to make sure I build something with plenty of torque, but also want something that would get decent fuel mileage. I was thinking about a bone stock LS1, but wanted your input on what you thought would be the best choice for motor as well as computer setup.

Go with a complete 5.3 4wd drivetrain. It will make your life simpler and save you $ in the long run. The whole GM wiring harness and computer will be needed as well.
