Default Accessories - just brackets?

I certain this question must have been asked before but I can't seem to find the answer:

With all the different cars (and trucks) that have had the LS1 engines installed (thats LS1-6, LQ4/9 LR4 etc) how compatible are the accessories?

For instance are the accessories fitted to an F-body the same as the like an LY6 SSR?

Now I know the brackets are different, but are the main accessories the same / have the mounting / bolt patterns?

Hope you guys can set me straight!

thanks Rob

without seeing each individual part I'm not 100% sure
but the 'hollander interchange' (what salvage yards in US use)
shows for example a 98 ls1 alternator is different than 99-02 alternator, but an 04 SSR is same as most trucks (03-05, including the saab 9-7x)

this could really get confusing lol
good luck sir!

I know the lq4 truck engines are diff than the ls1 f body accessories. The trucks stick out further so if clearance to radiator are a issue, that is something to keep in mind. I know it's not a lot, but.....

For me its a question of accessory mounting holes/locations and if the electrical connections are the same...

seeing as I haven't had any luck getting hold of a complete set of accessories and brackets I have been looking at sourcing all the parts individually... but brackets seem to be quite rare - unless I am looking in the wrong places?

I have seen some auctions on ebay for a set of F-body bracket kits but they don't include the AC brackets...

Whats would a good price for a set OEM replacement brackets?

there are 3 general space away from the engine.. with Vette being the closest, then with the F-Body being next about 3/4" out more, followed by the Truck with about another 3/4" outwards. This difference make mix and matching between the three type impossible to swap brackets.

If you look in the FAQ / Sticky, you will find many of the F-Body part numbers for all of the front accessories..

There are different A/C Bracket for each of the three spacing setups and also there could be different brackets for difference years of the F-Body and Truck.. I know I picked up a used A/C compressor and found out that I could not use it cause the bracket and compressor had different casting/mounts for my 99 F-Body compressor setup !?

You are not looking in the wrong places. Accessories brackets are not to be found in junk yards. At least not in any of them within 200 mile sof where I live. These motors tend to sell as complete assemblies.

When I needed an F body alternator bracket I had to get one from GM direct. Price isn't too bad. If nothing else they give you a price reference should you find some used stuff.

As for the PS pump and alternator commonality, there is always differences between the years but for the most part they should interchange. Water pumps are completely different animals between the truck, F body and vette. Someone already mentioned they all run the belt at a different distance from the engine.

F car and Y car share the same service water pump (pn 89018053) with the very wide pulley, seperate t-stat and housing. The alternator from a truck works on the f car bracket, the ps pump is completely different, idler pulley, tensioner are also different. I used the F car setup, bought all of the brackets new from GM, not too bad of a price.

GM Performance parts offers a kit for the LS1 and LS6 that has everything including the A/C for a Y car setup and a different one for LS2, LS3 and LS7

Thanks Guys, I really appreciate the replies:
Fast: My project is actually a close copy of another member here (lstvr) he made up his own headers and own brackets for the ALT and PS pump, but in any case the main problem is exhaust routing out of the header. The exhaust has to follow the block down to the pan then go back, I have pics but they are not mine.

The f-body setup is expected to fit with exception of AC which will most likely foul the exhaust path on the passenger side(us pass/UK driver side). See trouble is that I am the only person who is preparing to do this conversion, into one of these: (pic is random one plucked from google) and wants to keep the AC... and as I don't want to pay through the teeth to get custom brackets made up over here (imagine twice the cost of custom brackets in the US), I want to straight up use the GM parts.

69lt1bird: I appreciate the list, I have come across a couple of those part numbers before, the list is nice to have. My problem is that I have been working to advice (from people who have gone before me) that the 'vette configuration won't give enough clearance for the headers to exit and pass down by the block, the chassis and engine bay is very space constrained (made for a narrower taller ohc engine and even the headers on the OEM engine go forward then down and back under the engine).
The f-body one is a better fit but will still be close. Is there a package for f-body package? That pdf is good, is that f-body pic of a 98? just the water pump pulley looks different to what I have seen on the ones for sale.

loweredd: I am very interested, do you know if these accessories would allow connection to a 99-02 LS1 ECM/harness, I know there are differences but not sure what they are outside of the ECM. Please PM me when you are ready and I'll give you my email address.

I guess my other question would be would the harness connectors be different? And has anyone mounted the AC compressor backward (so that the pulley rotates backward) I expect it wouldn't work, but I don't know anything to say yes or no...

Thanks again guys!

I dont know if the alternator connections are the same.....I think that the A/C should be, just a 2 wire connection.

I would think that you should be able to repin different plugs...... I don't know for sure though....sorry.

hey loweredd I am still interested but I would appreciate alittle time just to find out if I can or can't use them, should just be a few searches on this site to find the info...

fast: As I have them I will, still waiting on the main engine parts (from thunder) to be shipped over from the states to england, and I may be delaying the shipment so the accessories can come over at the same time...

nope, you have to match all of the accessories. I tried it and had to buy a LS1 F car one since that was what I used for the p/s and water pump

I believe the GTO's use some of the same stuff as the F-body.. the Alternator Bracket looked the same to me..and if that's the same, then the Crank Pulley and the AC should be, the PS looks different.

The GTO PS pump is mounted directly to the head. No bracket used. The alternator on the GTO is different. It uses a different wiring connector than the F-Body Alt. Crank Pulley depth looks the same, but you wouldn't be able to tell unless you did a side by side comparison.

Will it bolt up? Looks like it will in the pic below, but IDK for sure. I have an Extra F-Body Alternator Bracket if anyone needs one.
