Engine Shipping
Getting ready to swap an LS1 into a C3 Corvette. Got a good price on an engine & trans about 1000 miles away.
Got several quotes - some good, some pretty scary. Got one quote from "shipanengine.com" for $235 - very good.
Question is, has anyone ever dealt with these people before? Any suggestions?

Never dealt with shipanengine.com, but I can tell you that $235 is a good deal for a 1000 mile distance. When I sold the 305/th-350 combo out of my 77 LT, the guy paid nearly $800 to ship it 930 miles. I know this included a 90 pound tranny, but that shouldn't account for that big a difference.
If these guys are legit, I say jump on it.

Just an FYI for anyone that may stumble upon this thread.
When I began checking I got quotes anywhere from $1200 to $235 from various carriers. Many of them in the $400~$600 range. Only one less than $385. I was a little spooked about these guys because they had spammed the crap out of Craigslilst - however, that's also how I found them since they really didn't show up on any of my google searches for freight quotes.
Anyhow, I went ahead and took the leap & gave them the go-ahead. Engine arrived today undamaged - a day early, no less.
$235 to ship from SC to MO - it was actually a bit over 800 miles & included lift gate service at one end (both ends had business addy). Complete LS1 + 4L60E trans guesstimated at 800lbs.
It arrived on an R&L truck.
If anyone needs an engine shipped I'd definitely give these guys a shot based upon my experience - they made it very easy, I was able to handle it all via email & fax.
Now the real work starts.....
