corvette chassis under a c10?
Just an Idea, doesnt have to be a c10 or anything, something with a close wheel base would suffice aswell

Yep thatinsane person would be me! I did Lengthen that torque tube by 4.6''myself. I also narrowed both K-Members which was a much larger task. I'm actuallyin process of making another torque tube for the car. It's actually not thathard if you have the right equipment. You'll need to take it apart (dependingon year since the design changed a little) but for a 2004 you need to take thelarge snap ring off. Beat the other end (transmission side) through. Whichis pushing out a bearing which axially has a lot of play for stackup issues(thank you GM). Take apart the driveshaft and take the center aluminumto a driveshaft shop, have them lengthen it by the same amount as the housing.Make sure to have it balanced and wall thickness increased (if lengthening).Cut off the tube next to the welds. Mill off the welds using a Bridgeport. Oncethe weld material is gone you can pop out the little piece of tubing left inside. Buy apiece of 5in x .250 wall 6061. Measure to figure out how long the piece needsto be. Turn both ends square and to length. Weld into place (Orientationmatters), I went off the exhaust hangers as a flat plane, and the dowels on theengine housing side as flat. Reinstall driveshaft. Weld on new shifter mountpieces. Lengthen shifter shaft if needed.
It's a lot of work but I have a lathe and mill at work which can do the machining. I also have a tig welder that can do aluminum. Tubing cost me ~$120. If I did it for someone else I would charge $1500, it's alot of work.
PM if you need more instructions.
