Default Wiring harness question.

I'm ready to order a wiring harness for my build. Is there anything that needs to be added to this harness to make it work with my swap? Do I need a 3 wire or 5 wire MAF? I do not have the MAF yet so I will by which ever one works better. He will be using the LS1 fuel injector connectors because i'm using the ford injectors

twin turbo 5.3 with ls1 intake (Build link in signature)

This is for one new 1999-02 Vortec 4.8L, 5.3L & 6.0L Cable Throttle standalone engine management harness, brand new. This harness is set up for the C/K-Body configuration with throttle cable. Our harnesses are made up of very high quality parts. TechRods has been in the business of making harnesses since 2001 and our experience dates back even earlier.

Our harness is a standalone configuration and designed to be use with newer fuel injected engines that are being installed in older vehicles that were not originally equipped with fuel injection. Our harness connects to the engine and has a minimum of two wires to connect to start and run the engine.

Optional features included with this harness:
● Wiring for A/C recognition circuit
● Wiring for 4L60E Transmission

Standard Harness Features:
● All terminal ends are crimped and soldered.
● Same OEM connectors used on factory looms.
● Factory color coding wiring for easy diagnostics.
● ECM/PCM branch off right rear of engine 5' to tails and ECM/PCM center 9" from tails.
● Taylor fitted to engine and covered with convoluted split loom for clean show quality look.
● The harness is tagged and labeled for easy installation.
● Support documentation included.
● All of our harnesses include a diagnostic connection, a fuel pump relay and a four position fuse block. Our harnesses also include two wires tailed out for a check engine light, a fuel pump power tail and an ignition power tail. All of our harnesses feature soldered terminal ends and convoluted covering. Our harness lies on the engine neatly and has five feat of trunk length from the right rear of the engine for easy placement of the PCM.

This harness is equipped for standard injectors. Flex fuel systems use a different injector that requires a different connector.

GM used a wide variety of oxygen sensors for these engines. We have standardized on the AFS106 sensor and equivalent connector.

TechRods base model 1999-02 Vortec 4.8L, 5.3L & 6.0L Cable Throttle Standalone Engine Management Wiring Harness includes:

● Connector #1 & #2 for ECM / PCM
● Connector for Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor
● Connector for Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
● Connector for Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor
● Connector for Intake Air Temperature (IAT) / Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor
● Connector for Knock Sensor Sub Harness
● Connector for Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor
● Connector for Heated Oxygen (O2) Sensor #1 Bank #1
● Connector for Heated Oxygen (O2) Sensor #1 Bank #2
● Connector for Throttle Position (TP) Sensor
● Connector for Fuel Injector #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7 & #8
● Connector for Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve
● Connector for Alternator
● Connector for Ignition Bank #1 Sub Harness
● Connector for Ignition Bank #2 Sub Harness
● Connector for Fuel Pump Relay (includes relay)
● Four Position Fuse Block (Includes Fuses)
● Connector for Assembly Line Data Link (ALDL)
● Ring Terminal for Ground Lug
● Ring Terminal for Power Lug
● Lead for 12-Volt Switched Ignition Power
● Lead for Fuel Pump Positive Output
● Lead for Tachometer Signal Output
● Lead for Brake Switch Signal Input
● Leads for Check Engine Light (Ignition Power and Trigger)

Wiring for A/C Recognition Option includes:
● Lead for A/C Recognition Signal Input

Wiring for 4L60E Transmission Option includes:
● Connector for 4L60E Transmission
● Connector for Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
● Connector for Transmission Range Switch #1

I would go with the 5wire MAF...one less sensor to deal with (the IAT sensor is in the MAF on the 5 Wire)

I'd go with 3-wire, I think most turbo guys eliminate the MAF and run speed density. In that scenario, you'd want the separate IAT.

For a forced Induction (turbo/supercharger), I would think that the Speed Density would be more in the right direction and do away with the MAF.

What would have to be changed on the wiring harness to go to speed density?

So go with the 3 wire and keep the plug for the IAT. I Just will not use the MAF?

im going to try to order this harness today

Just the MAF is not used. Wiring harness stays the same, MAF plug isnt used, just the tune will change...
