Default Intake Manifold

I have an 06 Vortec in my 69 Chevelle that I would like to replace the intake on and get rid of some of the clutter from unused bolt downs and such. Can I use a intake from an LS engine if not does anyone know where I can buy one for a Vortec searched but came up empty!

Vortec is a "branding" name of motors, usually referring to the truck and SUV versions of the LS engine family. What exactly did your motor come out of? If you are interested in a LS1(flat criss/cross intake like out of a FBody or Corvette) PM me.You will most likely need to chage injectors and fuel rail too.

It came out of an 06 Sierra. It is a L33 Gen 3 Alum block HO engine.

Oh yeah, that looks pretty familiar! OK, I'm guessing (pretty sure) that it has the std rectangle-port intake, which would mean that you'd need to get the L76 intake manifold to work with that style port.

If I'm mistaken & it has the "cathedral" intake ports (shaped tall & skinny, & tapering to a near-point at the top), then you could use the LS1 or LS6 type intake manifolds.

Another alternative that I remember reading about was someone taking a dremel or a die grinder to the top of the truck intake to remove a lot of the extraneous crap, then smoothed it out a bit & finished it with some paint. As I recall, it looked pretty good!

Hope this helps.

The Rectangular Port Heads came out in '07, his is still Cathedral Port Heads.

I would use an LS6 Intake, and get Car Accessories..

or just put a pipe on the water pump outlet on the top and turn it to clear to save some coin. Done it before, same with a couple other members.
