Default t5 to ls1

hi everybody im new here and i have a 71 celica that has a 350 with a t5 and narrow 9 i want to swap the 350 out with a ls1 that i have already purchased i do not have room for a t56 only the t5 and my t5 is built and also would like to know if i can use the stock bell housing thanks jeremy

If the 350 was a pre-'86 2-piece seal block, you'll need a new flywheel to match the later crank flange. A pilot bearing from a C5 Corvette will locate farther to the rear to account for the shorter crank flange height vs. the sbc. The only real hassle might be getting a starter to work - if the flywheel has a 168-tooth ring gear, the stock LS1 starter MAY work, I'm not entirely sure though. If it's a 153 tooth, you'll need to fabricate or track down an adapter block to mount a PowerMaster style starter to the LS1 block -- I heard McLeod makes one but isn't listed in their catalog.
