I have a 78 ta with factory a/c and used the original system. I used a sanden compressor wit a Kwik performance bracket.I used a replacement acumulator (dryer)that was for r134.
Installed a new type pressure switch and a variable orfice tube.I used over the evaporator core (had it tested for leaks). I bought a New condenser and made my own lines.Pretty much bought everything on E bay and also used www.nostalgicairparts.com.

Did you use your factory gauges by chance?
