Hi All,

I'm getting my fuel system figured out and have a question on my filter. It's a BG-5000 and I need to know if it matters which port is the inlet. Both ports are the same thread and neither is marked. I would ASSume most peeps would plumb the inlet into the bottom cap and output the fuel from the side port into the pump. My "packaging area" would be much better suited to using the side port as the inlet and the cap as the outlet port... Any thoughts?

I bought a Fram filter that looked similar. It had inlet and outlet clearly cast into the housing, but the instruction sheet said flow direction did not matter. I think I hooked it up in the opposite direction.

I also have a smaller inline filter that clearly labeled the flow direction.

So I would get on the BG website and see if they have an instruction manual you can download.

One thing for sure, once you hook it up one way don't reverse it later.

 

Called BG today and their tech guy says the orientation defiitely does matter. So, the way I have mine is back-asswards and will need to be redone. Sure would have been nice if the inlet was marked!
