Default 98 ls1 into a 93 caprice

Hey just trying to help the guy out who purchased my motor.

the guy who installed it for him is saying there is no spark on the motor. i gave him the wiring harness on the motor and the pcm. any ideas. figured something has to be retro fitted in the wiring of the two different harnesses to get this to work

Its as simple as making the LS1 harness into a stand alone, and wiring it into the stock fuse box, or using an independent fuse box. What transmission is he running?

he shoulnt need anything else from my car such as my fuse boxs or any of the wiring on the drivers side of the car right?

I swapped a 98 LS1 into my 97 camaro, so the caprice is probably a little different. He still shouldn't need any of your fuse boxes though. I mean, that might make it a lil easier for running the wiring, but he shouldn't need em. The problem will more-than-likely be found at the C100, C101 or C105 connectors (the 3 connectors in the engine bay area, passenger side by pcm, for my camaro at least).

C100 A (pink) feeds power to bank 1 ignition
C101 B (pink) feeds power to bank 2 ignition

If there's just no spark, then the ignition wires are probably what need power. Or, since he has an auto, his P/N switch might need to be wired up, specially if it was a manual before. I had a 5 speed before i switched to the auto 98 Ls1, and had to run wires from the park neutral switch to the "clutch safety switch" (think that's what it's called).

He SHOULDN'T...seeing as you can use an independent fuse box, I just think its cleaner with it run through the stock fuse box.

If he is saying that there is no spark, make sure he checks the neutral safety switch on the side of the transmission, and make sure it's installed.
