68 camaro lq9 header question
I am looking for headers for my camaro. Pushed the engine back 2.5 inches. Are there any off the shelf headers that will work? I know Edelbrock makes ls1 swap headers....great value, but I am not sure if they will fit since I pushed the engine back. A friend suggested that since I am using a t56 out of a 2002 camaro, why not get ls1 headers for a 2002 camaro and modify where needed...or perhaps they will work.
To get headers made, it will cost $1200 bucks....I paid a grand for my lq9, 800 for the t56...and I cant imagine paying more for headers than an engine or trans.
Any thoughts here guys>

I know summit racing sells a kit where you can build your own, but that can be quite labor extensive. Current performance wiring swapped a 4.8 into. 72 cutlass and they used a set of TBSS manifolds they had laying around. I'm not really sure what else can work though sorry.

2.5 in. from the stock Camaro position I am guessing, this is normal.
I have the hooker headers made for the first gen F car and they fit great, they clear the steering gear with no issues. My engine is very close to the firewall, maybe 1 - 1.5 in. I made my own motor plates and just used 69 Camaro mounts.

Not sure how you were able to push the motor 2.5 inches unless you modified the firewall. Anyway, my 69 camaro LS motor is pushed back about 1-1.5 inches which puts the head on the passanger side about 1/4" away from the firewall. Headers on the passanger side are no issue. I used Street and Performance short headers because my car sits low and I didn't want to scrape the collectors any longer. I had to dent the driver side header in two places to clear the steering box. Because the flat spot is behind the steering box you can't even tell.
