Default VSS for Electric Speedo

I have been searching for months trying to figure out how to connect my speedo. I have a Marshall Instruments Electric Speedo. If I connect it directly to the vss from the trans the trans will not shift out of first gear. If I use the VSS out from the pcm The speedo doesn't read past like 5 mph while driving. I have really been scratching my head with this. Any one out there please chime in.

Thanks,
Eric B.

That makes me feel better. I'll calibrate it and see what happens. I hadn't done that yet, just figured something was wrong since it wouldn't read anything past 5mph. Thanks
