Default Battery disconnect switch wiring

I'm using a 99 LS1 engine and harness in my project. Battery is trunk mounted with an externally operated disconnect switch. Will switching the positive battery cable kill the engine without any problems or will it continue to run on alt power? Do I need a separate non switched feed for the pcm to hold codes or "learned" info?

In my Vette I did 2ga from Alt to battery. Then from battery to the disconnect switch I use 02ga. Followed by disconnect to main power terminal for the car 02ga again. Has worked flawless for 2 years now.

I should have noted that all power connections are removed from the battery in my car and moved to the main power terminal (fuse box lead)

Without a way to kill the PCM signal to the alternator the engine will continue to run even with the battery killed

What would be the right way to wire a disconnect switch to operate properly, keep the computer happy, and meet drag tech inspection? (99 Camaro harness)

I notice a lot of battery disconnect switches also have a second switch for the chassis power.

Rethink my post. All power is killed per NHRA rules. In a Camaro it would be no different. But you can use a two pole switch to maintain some limited power in the car (I beleive 10Amps or less). The main purpose of the kill switch is to kill all power that could cause more injury or damage.
