The main difference between the LS2 and LS1 pump was that the LS2 pump was made lighter by using less aluminum.

If you read the original C6 publicity material when the car was released; several measures were made to reduce the weight over the front axle, inluding reducing the weight of the engine (water pump) and in a few other areas.

While we are on the subject of water pump education. Can someone talk about the thermostat housings and how they differ from old to new?? What I mean is, I think Ive sorta heard that somewhere along the line GM went to a more conventional type housing with a 'seperated' thermostat. If anyone knows when and what vehicles this MIGHT have actually happened on, the info would be greatly appreciated.

Also, Ive read some whoopla about the L92 pump, but I really dont understand what the big deal is. Also, the 2010 Camaro with LS3's do they have a 'new' FEAD, or is it an existing one brought over??

Bump.

So what are the pump options for retaining an LS1 Camaro accessory belt position, but with a non-bell style water pump pulley ?

Even if the bell was squared off it would be enough for me, as the bell section fouls my blower belt on occasion.

This thread is pretty missleading.

There is no single ls2 water pump. There is vette, gto/cts v, trailblazer ss.

How much shorter is a Corvette water pump compared to a LY6 truck water pump?
Thank You.

There is a 3/4" difference between the Corvette, Fbody and truck spacing

So moving from truck to corvette moves the pulley spacing 1.5" towards the block

I realize this post is fairly old, But do have a similar question myself,
Is the power steering pump/pulley the same between a 98-02 camaro/and a 2005 GTO ????

Im having kinda a hard time finding just the pulley or the pump with the pulley.
Edit: for my GTO

Thanks in advance guys!!

Elaborate...or post a picture of your pump.

04 and 05 GTO's or Monaros do use a different PAS pump...as does a Camaro.

That said I do believe the pulley would be swappable on them all.

Whilst it was quite a few years ago I bought it, I believe this is the pulley I run on my 04 Monaro pump.

From Fbody to GTO, the spacing is the same. Pump, pulley, bracket and reservoir are totally different

Since we're on the subject, Fbody to GTO alts are also different in every way except the pulley spacing. Even the wiring changes

WP, tensioner and balancer are for all intensive purposes the same from Fbody to GTO
