Several people have pt LS1's into Early Chevy II's. But, almost nobidy has done it with the stock front end, as far as I am aware. It would be pretty much a big waste of time and money IMO. But, there are several manufacturers of aftermarket bolt-on front clips with up-to-date suspension technologies available. And a swap of this type is pretty straightforward. You would just need the proper mounts as you would with any other LS1 swap.

Check: Steve's Chevy II/Nova Q&A Site

There is lots of info specific to the Chevy II/Nova

No kits that I'm aware of..
You'll need engine mount adaptors, special exhaust manifolds, modified oil pan(if you use the stock front end),fabricate your own transmission mount, cut a hole in your floor board for the trans clearence,a new driveshaft will be required,a new wiring harness, radiator connections change....it's not an overnight thing.

well, i figured on having performance chasis here in fort worth build something for the front to bring the motor down a bit. hopefully they could build something where i could use a stock truck oil pan, or atleast something where i would have to modify it very little.

Should be just a matter of cutting a notch in the pan for the drag link to clear.
Not sure what you mean by "bring the motor down a bit"?

looks like the best thing to do might be to have a custom rear suspension fabricated and have someone move some stuff around in the front for clearance. some of the guys on that board grooves posted said there isn't much room for headers in'em with an LS1

Why not just update the front end with one of the kits out on the market, that way you'll have lots of romm in the engine bay.....
