LM7 into a '66-67 Nova?
I think the motor mounts and exhaust shouldn't be too much issue.
Looking for input on Suspension, FI vs Carb, and Wiring Harness
The motor would be a small build. LM7 out of a 99+ Silverado tore down and cleaned up.. Maybe some forged pistons, (just in case
) a little cam, light porting to the heads. I think Carb'd would be more fun.Transmission would most likely be a TH350. I'd love to go T56 but wouldn't want to cut up the floor boards.
Suspension - Street car. How much tire would fit under it without tubbing?
What's a general idea for parts list? Any guesses torwards cost (except more than budgeted
$2k for exhaust/intake/pistons/fuel lines/etc?
$3-5k for suspension?
1. Hooker block hugger headers ($200)
2. S&P Custom Long Tubes ($700)
3. Jegs header tube kit & LS1 flanges ($85+50) and weld them up yourself
As for the motor mounts there are a few companies that make adapters so that regular old SBC mounts will work. Most range in the $50 range.
Suspension go Caltracs they retain a stock smooth drive and flat out WORK! For the front suspension a full clip can be pricey at $2500+, but there is an alternate kit available that modifies the stock front clip. The Mini-Sub frame kit from CCP (base kit 399) comes with lower A-arms that eliminate the stupid rods and triangulate everything properly. There is a full kit that adds upper arms, shocks/springs, etc. for more.
For the tire you can fit a 255 wide out back in a 66-67' w/o too much trouble.
