just an idea i have been brainstorming.
i need a speedo for my swap which is 86 el camino lq4/4l80e.
well as of right now i do not have my gauges working. was planning on purchasing aftermarket gauges.
but was wondering about retrofitting an instrument cluster out of late model truck into my car.
has anyone done this? does it receive its info from teh BCM harness?
like i said just brain storming ideas and wonder if anyone has tried it. and if you did what all parts were necessary?

Good question! GM varies as to whether they hardwire the speedo and tacho directly from the ECM, or they run the data direct via the BCM and CAN, or a mix of both.
Really the best way to tell is get the schematic for the truck in question and check whether the speedo/tacho are fed direct...or not
