Default Stupid Water pump question!?

Which port on the water pump is "in" and which is out? trying to hook up my hoses on my Ls1 swap, which hose goes to the top of the radiator and which goes to the bottom?

i am having a brain fart!

I figured as much, but figured I'd ask.

ANyone know if they make a "straight" thermostat housing? so the fitting comes out straight vs hard 90 to the right?

I didn't find anything either so I made my own...

Uses a two-piece style '05-up thermostat. I milled it to 1-3/4" hose size since the mustang radiator uses that size.

most older engines had the thermostat in the top, or to the radiator, the LS uses the bottom hose, or "in" to the motor for the thermostat-one thing i found was you gotta pour water into the top hose to fill the engine if running a t-stat, since the t-stat will be closed untill it heats up, water wont flow into the motor, so filling from the top will allow water to get behind the t-stat
this drove me nuts when i first fired mine up, lol
nice machine work on the housing

This is the one I got from CSR. It uses a standard small block Chevy thermostat. There are several recent threads on the topic. Try a search to find them

I took measurements of the thermostat and pump and drew up a sketch. Took it to work and milled it out of scrap piece of 4" billet. Then I cut the oval base on a band saw.

I can post the sketch and you can take it to a machinist. It's a pretty simple part. Just a lot of scrap when starting with a huge billet.

This is my first machining project ever. It turned out ok.

Default housing drawing

Here is the sketch. This is for a late model LSx 2-piece thermostat.

Although this wouldn't pass QS9000 it's good enough for a machinist to make.
