What should I do?
Hello everyone,
I posted this in Gen III discussion too...
I currently have a 99 F body ls1 in my 77 corvette. The car is running great after the conversion. The only real upgrade I have is custom headers/exhaust. I'm finally ready to upgrade the engine. I have been contemplating a few different things and I need some help. I have about 5k to 'invest' into the engine.
Which path should I take:
1. Modify the existing engine with AFR heads, cam, intake, electric water pump, and custom tune and have enough money left over to take my wife on vacation
Or
2. Save up a few thousand more and upgrade the engine to an LS3. If I did this, would the old LS1 belt driven accessories and headers bolt up to an LS3?

LS3 would have a lot more upgrade potential. Stonger bottom end and better oiling to boot.
On the LS1, if you have 243 heads you could have them ported and be dollars ahead on the AFR's. With a TEA port job and the right cam you will be over 500 HP easy.
