Wtf?
Wtf? I'm having problems with my ls1. Motor is from a 98' f-body and its installed in my 80' Caprice. I swapped the cam for a Z06 cam. Upon start up car runs very poorly, unable to idle on its on and after about 15-30mins of run time it smoothes out but if I mash the gas it backfires like a *****! I know it needs to be tuned for the cam swap but I want to make sure there isnt something else wrong. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
You really need to put a scanner on it and see what's happening. Are all your sensors happy? Is the timing sane? What is it doing when it backfires (fuel trims, timing, TPS) ?
I finally had a chance to scan and there are no codes of any kind, not even for the back firing issue. So I'm wondering if it has to do with the computer not being properly calibrated for the new cam? The idle quality is poor and when I go wot it backfires and cuts off like theres too much air or fuel or not enough of.
