Default 6.0 swap

Will the 6.0 vortec be a good swap into an 87 suburban 3/4 2wheel drive. Would that be smog legal for california?? Any suggestions.

i just did it in an 88 suburban 3/4 4 wheel drive, its not to bad lots of the stuff works out great. Smog legal is possible if you keep all the emmisions and hook it all up right.,

Cool. Do you have any pics? Did you keep your original trans or go with a newer one? Any info would be great. Thanks

I don't have any pics but it wasn't to hard as long as you have some mechanical knowledge and such, whats hard for one person is eay for another i guess. I bought the 6.0 with a 4l80e already atached, figured it would be easier and pretty strong. I bought the headers from texas speed that were for 98-04 trucks, I had to cut the flange off the miter the pipes a little to pull them in towards the block but things like that are to be expected. The shift linkage to the tranny works fine with a little bit of bending and trying it. I can get it into any gear with ease. I was able to keep my drive shafts the same lenght due to the tranny being longer and the motor shorter, it cam out about 1/2" different so no big deal. I had a 350 with a th400 originally. It already had dual fuel lines so I just go a pump from a 97 Vortec pickup and that works good. If you have any specific questions just ask.

well as Far as the lights and chassis harness i left that alone and that all works like stock. For the engine and tranny I send the Vortec harness to speartech to have him eliminate all the things that i don't need and to reprogram the ecm which has to be done one way or another. When I got it back everything was like it should be and it fired up once I had fuel pressure and all the wires hooked up right.
