Default EVAP Solenoid

Can some one explain how the EVap cannister etc works please?

This should be the last little problem sorted before the car goes for MOT.

Im after how the solenoid works.

It opens to pull fuel vapors into the motor and burn them. Its there to keep the hippies happy.

The PCM does control the EVAP Solenoid and Valve. The PCM needs input from the fuel take pressure and fuel level. Without those.. the PCM would never open the valve to purge the vapors out of the tank.

If you doing a non-Smog conversion, I would just do alway with it. I just run a Charcoal Canister and use the EVAP Port as a vacuum source for the can on my Chevelle.

If you doing a Certificed SMOG Conversion, You will need to get the sensors in the fuel tanks sender/pickup connected and wired as input to the PCM.

So do I need fuel pressure or fuel tankpressure as wellas fuel level?

Does any one have any diagrams on how the system works?

Pete, You would not be the speedy pete that had the 72 ss nova that was in hot rod magazine are you? In case you are what color blue was it? I got the nova now and looking to touch it up. Thanks.
