L92 VVT T56... can it work?

L92 VVT T56... can it work? Anyone heard of any success stories using the factory E38 computer on an L92 engine, keeping the VVT, and running a manual gearbox vs. the auto?

I remember asking about that quite a while ago, & being told that it would work - but I don't recall anything specific that I could refer you to...
I'm fairly confident that the programming for the engine is about 98% separate from the transmission programming, & what's left can be tuned out. Or, to phrase it a bit more emphatically, I already have my T-56 bolted up to my own VVT L92...
